Web hosting and GDPR
Our role as your hosting provider
As you will be aware, the GDPR is an EU-wide set of regulations, which sets out the respective responsibilities of Controllers and Processors in relation to Personal Data and Special Categories of Personal Data (broadly being Sensitive Personal Data under the current Data Protection Act 1998). If a client decides to maintain Personal Data / Special Categories of Personal Data on their hosted environment then they will need to ensure that they are complying with their responsibilities as Controllers (both under the current Data Protection Act 1998, and under the GDPR once it applies).
Under the GDPR Business Integrations is a Data Controller regarding contracts and communication with our clients. Our privacy policy at business-integrations.com/Privacy has more information on this and we encourage you to read it.
The GDPR introduces new, direct statutory obligations on Processors for the first time. Business Integrations, as a Processor in providing web hosting services to its clients, takes its legal responsibilities very seriously, and is currently undertaking a full audit of its business with respect to its own responsibilities under the GDPR.
Of course, clients must still ensure that they are meeting their responsibilities as Controllers, and to that end, Business Integrations would encourage all clients to carry out their own audits with respect to the Personal Data they are responsible for (including any Personal Data hosted on Business Integrations environments).
Please rest assured that your web site is hosted in the UK and that all data is held within the EU.
